Dr. Sajida Kimambo is a public health leader with over 20 years of progressive experience advancing health security and strengthening health systems in Tanzania. She currently serves as Country Director for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF), providing strategic leadership for the organization’s national portfolio and serving as a trusted partner to government institutions and global stakeholders.
Her expertise spans policy advocacy, health diplomacy, strategic partnerships, resource mobilization, and high-level representation. She has extensive experience engaging government health agencies, multilateral organizations, and major donors, and has successfully translated continental health frameworks into country-level implementation aligned with national health strategic priorities.
Dr. Kimambo has led large-scale donor-funded programs, overseeing the full program lifecycle from design to evaluation, and championed organizational performance, accountability, capacity building, and institutional strengthening. She has also played a key role in outbreak preparedness, emergency coordination, surveillance strengthening, and advancing sustainable, locally led health system transformation.
Dr. Kimambo has been recognized among the Top 50 Women Leaders in Africa (WIMA, 2023) and received recognition from USAID (2024) for transformational leadership in health, in addition to multiple U.S. Department of State awards for leadership and program excellence.
She holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Dartmouth College and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Muhimbili University.
