Dr. Damaris Matoke-Muhia is a molecular biology research scientist and Deputy Director of the Biotechnology Research Programme at the Kenya Medical Research Institute. She holds a PhD in Molecular Medicine from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Her work focuses on advancing biotechnology and genomics research for disease control, including coordinating precision medicine and genome sequencing initiatives, strengthening molecular and genomics capacity, and supporting research partnerships and resource mobilization.
Dr. Damaris previously served as Programme Manager at the Pan African Mosquito Control Association, where she led initiatives on capacity building, gender mainstreaming, and career progression, including oversight of the Women in Vector Control Programme. She is also passionate about mentoring women in STEM and promoting leadership opportunities for women in science and public health.
