A Consultant Community Medicine Physician and Associate Professor with the University of Uyo, Nigeria. Dr. Christie Akwaowo leads research and coordinates initiatives focused on health systems strengthening, e-health, and infectious diseases using implementation research.
She holds a Medical degree from the University of Calabar, a postgraduate degree in Public Health from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and a Master’s in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing from the London School of Economics.
Dr. Akwaowo serves on the Board of the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency, advancing universal health coverage, and is Deputy Chair of the Clinical Medical Advisory Committee at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, integrating research into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.
