Frehiwot Birhanu is a public health professional with more than 15 years of experience spanning clinical practice, academia, and global health leadership. She currently serves as Director of Programs for Sexual, Reproductive, Maternal, and Neonatal Health (SRMNH) at Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI).
Her career has focused on improving equitable access to quality reproductive health services in Ethiopia and Malawi. She has led national efforts to introduce and scale up new contraceptive technologies and medical devices, strengthen health systems, and foster multisectoral partnerships.
Frehiwot brings extensive experience in curriculum reform, policy engagement, programme design and scale-up, as well as stakeholder coordination, all aimed at advancing sustainable and inclusive health systems.
