Salimata Pousga is a qualified veterinary doctor and lecturer-researcher at Nazi Boni University, where she has served since 2008. Her teaching focuses on the special pathologies of domestic animals, the hygiene and safety of foods of animal origin, and public health. Her research interests center on animal nutrition and welfare, the promotion of local feed resources, and the coordination of research projects.
From 2010 to 2020, she headed the Department of Agricultural Extension, and from 2020 to 2022, she served as Director of University Cooperation. Since 2022, she has been the Scientific Director of International Centre for Research and Development on Livestock in Sub-humid Areas (CIRDES), an institution bringing together eight member countries. She is also actively engaged in issues related to gender and African agricultural policy.
