I am a Gambian with a Master of Science in Medical Entomology. I am also a Public Health Expert, a Medical Entomologists, and health policy specialist with thirty years of progressive experience at country, regional and international level. I am currently the Programme Manager of the Gambia National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP)with a over 15 years’ experience in Programme and Project Management.
I have a deeper knowledge of West Africa and the Sahel region having supported policy development, Malaria program reviews, development of National Malaria Strategic Plans, Policy and malaria programming with strategic lens. Significant expertise with multi-country programs and collaborations within the Africa region especially after leading the initiation of the Senegal/Gambia cross border joint synchronized mass LLINS distribution in 2019 and 2022.
I am also currently a retainer IICA 3, CRSPC Technical Support Senior Specialist Consultant, with the RBM Partnership to end malaria (Hosted by United Nations Office for Project Services – UNOPS). This role enables me to provide support to countries, regional mechanisms, and institutions in areas of resources mobilization, Malaria Program Reviews (MPR) and development of National Malaria Strategic Plans (NMSP), Malaria Policy., implementation improvement, and related technical support.
In March 2023, I supported, the Ministry of Health and National Malaria Control Programme of the Republic of Sierra Leone, specifically, I conducted a Mid Ter Review (MTR) of the Malaria Control Strategic plan for the period 2021-2025. I also led the revision of the Sierra Leone revised National Malaria Strategic Plan (NSP) and M and E Plan in preparation for the Global Fund proposal in 2023.
