Medhin Selamu is a Mental Health Epidemiologist and public mental health advocate with extensive experience in mental health research and service delivery. Her work includes a dissertation entitled “Impact of Healthcare Workers’ Wellbeing on Healthcare Delivery among Primary Healthcare Workers in a Rural District in Southern Ethiopia.” She was also part of the Programme for Improving Mental Health Care (PRIME), where she served as the Intervention Coordinator for PRIME Ethiopia.
Dr. Medhin’s academic background spans clinical nursing, sociology, social anthropology, and healthcare social work, providing her with a multidisciplinary perspective on mental health systems and care delivery. She currently leads humanitarian emergency mental health responses and manages routine mental, neurological, and substance use (MNS) health initiatives in Ethiopia.
She has substantial experience in scaling up integrated mental health care services and delivering psychosocial support during humanitarian crises. She is also an alumna of the Mental Health Leadership and Advocacy Programme (mhLAP).
