Abdifatah Elmi Farah is a public health and health systems specialist with over 15 years of experience leading health and nutrition programs in humanitarian and development settings. Currently with UNICEF Ethiopia, he provides strategic leadership to strengthen primary health care systems, expand immunization coverage, and improve equitable access to services in underserved communities.
His expertise spans health policy, health financing, and the integration of social protection mechanisms—particularly community-based health insurance—to enhance service utilization. He has led and supported major public health emergency responses in Ethiopia and Zimbabwe (on deployment), while advancing resilience and sustainable systems strengthening.
A Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Fellow (inaugural cohort) and active researcher with peer‑reviewed publications on health systems, service utilization, and financing, he is committed to committed to evidence-based policy and sustainable health system transformation.
