Dr. Bagnan Bato is a health economist and technical advisor to Togo’s Minister of Finance and Budget. He is one of two representatives from West Africa on the African Union’s Continental Task Force on Health Financing. He has over 15 years of experience in strengthening health systems in Africa, with expertise in health financing, resource mobilization strategies, universal health coverage, costing, and health program management.
Over the past seven years, his work has focused on promoting universal health coverage, including the development and optimization of community health interventions, the establishment of national universal health insurance mechanisms in Togo and the Central African Republic, developing resource mobilization strategies for the National Institute of Public Health in Togo, and providing strategic advice to the Ministers of Health and Finance in Togo.
Dr. Bato is a member of the African Federation for Health Economics and Policy (AFHEA)
