Prudence Matern Masako is a public health leader with over 20 years of experience advancing inclusive socio-economic transformation in Tanzania, with a strong commitment to women’s and youth empowerment. She currently serves as Country Director for CARE International in Tanzania, where she leads people-centred, locally driven development initiatives focused on strengthening livelihoods, particularly for women and youth.
Her leadership emphasizes building strong partnerships that connect communities to systems, markets, and finance, while promoting innovative and scalable approaches that deliver sustainable impact.
Previously, she held senior leadership roles with EngenderHealth and Population Services International, where she led reproductive health, maternal and child health, and malaria programs, and managed strategic partnerships with governments, donors, and development agencies.
