Dr. Viviane Fossouo Ndoungué is a senior public health expert from Cameroon with over 19 years of experience in global health security, epidemic and pandemic preparedness, and health systems strengthening across Africa. She has held technical and leadership roles with the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa, supporting countries in International Health Regulations (IHR) implementation, national action planning for health security, Joint External Evaluations of IHR capacities, urban preparedness, health system resilience, and mpox emergency response.
She currently works with the World Bank as a senior health consultant, supporting epidemic preparedness and response, mpox response, regional collaboration, programme performance analysis, and cross-border health security initiatives. Her work combines policy dialogue, technical assistance, implementation support, and evidence-based decision-making.
Dr. Fossouo also contributes to public health education as a lecturer at the university of Ngaoundéré and “Université des Montagnes” in Cameroon, mentoring students and supporting research. She is recognized for her commitment to One Health, health security, and the development of stronger, more resilient public health systems in Africa.
