Prof. Youssouf Traoré is a public health physician, epidemiologist, and Associate Professor of Epidemiology. He currently serves as the National Focal Point for the International Health Regulations (2005) at the Institut National d’Hygiène Publique (INHP).
For over 15 years, he has provided national leadership in the coordination of public health emergencies, disease surveillance, and cross-border health security. His work includes monitoring diseases with epidemic potential, reporting to the World Health Organization, and collaborating with technical and financial partners to strengthen preparedness and response systems.
Prof. Traoré is a member of the national One Health platform for prevention, detection, and response to public health emergencies. He has also contributed to Africa CDC initiatives and is recognized as one of the pioneers of event-based surveillance in Africa, with expertise in cross-border surveillance and points-of-entry health security in collaboration with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
