Dr. Inas Abdelwahed is an Egyptian physician and global public health professional currently serving as a Senior Technical Officer at the Africa CDC in Addis Ababa, where she contributes to public health workforce development and health systems strengthening. She is a graduate of of the Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Health Leadership Program (2023) and currently serves as Chair of the Egypt chapter of Women in Global Health.
Dr. Inas has experience across the Egyptian Ministry of Health, United Nations agencies, and local and international non-governmental organizations, with technical expertise spanning HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health, mental health, and refugee health programs. She has also worked in the private sector on digital health innovation initiatives across the MENA region, supporting the use of AI and digital technologies to strengthen surveillance systems, health data management, and service delivery. She has contributed to research and publications in sexual and reproductive health and public health systems strengthening.
As part of her fellowship, she led leadership challenge project addressing menstrual poverty by coordinating efforts to provide reusable sanitary pads to school-aged girls, supporting school retention and girls’ education. Her professional interests include health workforce development, digital health transformation, and decolonising the knowledge on public health across Africa.
