Christie Tiwoda is a legal expert in global health with over 15 years of experience currently working at the Ministry of Public Health in Cameroon.
Her work focuses on integrating legal dimensions and perspectives into health policies and systems both at local and global levels, ensuring that public health policies are not only medically sound but also legally enforceable and grounded in rights-based approaches.
She has played a key role in advancing the legal dimensions of Universal Health Coverage (UHC), advocating for stronger accountability, equity, and access through well-defined legal frameworkss. Her expertise also extends to health emergency preparedness and response, where she has contributed to reinforce legal preparedness trough the developing legal frameworks that enable timely and effective responses to epidemics and pandemics.
Christie has worked to align national health laws with international standards, including the World Health Organization International Health Regulations, and serves as a consultant supporting countries across Africa in strengthening legal preparedness for health security.
As such, Christie cooperates with national and global organisations working in the fields of human, animal and environmental health to drive the development and implementation of a transdisciplinary and multisectoral approach to legal preparedness for emergencies
