Africa CDC and Japan Forge New Pact to Strengthen Global Health Security
A Memorandum of Cooperation has been established between Africa CDC and the Japan Institute for Health Security (JIHS) to deepen collaboration in health security, infectious disease control, research and public health workforce development.
Signed simultaneously in Addis Ababa and Tokyo, the agreement strengthens joint efforts to improve surveillance, laboratory capacity, early warning systems and coordinated emergency response. The partnership also advances One Health and climate-resilient approaches to address zoonotic diseases, antimicrobial resistance and emerging threats.
Aligned with Africa CDC’s Strategic Plan (2023–2027) and the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda, it will be implemented through a Joint Action Plan outlining priority activities and timelines.
