Yahya Kandeh

Biography

Mr Yahya Kandeh is a public health officer with more than eight years of work experience in public health, project management, water hygiene, and sanitation. He currently serves as a Public Health Fellow at Africa CDC Southern Africa RCC, where he supports strategic planning and provides technical assistance to Member States on disease surveillance and intelligence. He has trained Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) data managers of the Ministry of Health of Malawi on proper health data management and participated in the situational analysis of event-based surveillance in Zambia. He was part of the team that drafted the multisectoral cholera elimination plan for Zambia. Mr Kandeh has experience in drafting concept notes and proposals. Before joining Africa CDC, he served as Program Officer for the Directorate of Health Promotion and Education at the Ministry of Health, The Gambia, where he supported implementation of behavioural change communication activities and project management. Yahya has a bachelors’ degree from the University of The Gambia. He speaks fluent English and conversational French.
