Responsible for ensuring operational and programme level Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met at a country level. Support country-level engagement and implementation of Africa CDC’s program activities including vaccine roll-out. Provide technical and on-the-ground support to Member states and track progress of programmes at country level. Lead, Disease Control and Prevention & Health Promotion programmes and External Relations and Strategic Engagements thematic areas under the WARCC operational structure.
Qualifications: MSc Public Health – Health Promotion, PgD in Food and Nutrition Security including Project Planning and Proposal Writing, Dip. in Public & Environmental Health, Cert. in Social Policy for Development Planners, Public & Environmental Health, Participatory Communication & Participatory Development.
Successful country engagement missions to the Republic of Mali, Senegal, Guinea Bissau, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria and mission reports produced and documented. Guided the establishment of a national coordination platform in Mali resulting to timely implementation of the SLL programme. Supported the review of Social Media contents on the SLL programme for publication.
Prior to joining Africa CDC, I served the Ministry of Health, The Gambia over 30 years and as the Director of Health Promotion and Education (2012-2022), I led the establishment of the Directorate of Health Promotion and Education with the required human, material, and financial resources and a national multisectoral coordination mechanism to support the implementation of health promotion interventions/initiatives and won several WHO NCD and Tobacco control awards. Successfully coordinated the implementation of Africa CDC CHW PACT initiative and served as the Steering Committee Member of the Africa CDC and WHO established Public Health – Risk Communication and Community Engagement Community of Practice in Africa (PH-RCCE CoPA) for West Africa.
