Mr. Alex Mathenge Kimondo is a Kenyan citizen who has been appointed as the Technical Officer – Digital Systems in the Office Africa CDC, Eastern Africa – RCC, SLL programme supporting 14 member states. His role is cross cutting in the 5 different Divisions of the Africa CDC for instance: the Division of Disease Control and Prevention; the Public Health Information Systems; Emergency Preparedness and Response; Laboratory Systems and Networks; National Public Health Institutes and Research; Surveillance and Disease Intelligence. Mr. Alex Mathenge Kimondo holds an MBA Management Information Systems from the University of Nairobi and Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. He is a member of the Computer Society of Kenya (CSK).
Prior to joining Africa CDC, Mr. Alex Mathenge Kimondo served in different capacities within the Information Technology sector particularly in Health Information Systems. He has worked as an ICT Support Specialist, ICT Technical Manager, ICT Officer at the County Management Health sector services and Ministry of Health Kenya, Head of ICT at Nairobi City County Health Sector (USAID Intra-health Project), Manager ICT at Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) and currently as an ICT Manager at Mission for Essential Drugs & Supplies (MEDS), His last assignment was as an ICT Manager at Mission for Essential Drugs & Supplies (MEDS a position which held for three years.
He is a career ICT expert with over 15 years of experience in diverse organizations ranging from public, private sector, Non for profit & Non-governmental organization as a consultant and professional in ICT. He is a Champion of innovative technology solutions that meet organizational requirements. Expert in aligning technology with strategic goals to maximize profits and lower organizational risk through policy and technical strategies. Natural team leader, mentor, and builder of high-performance teams who thrives in diverse cultures. He is a dynamic, results-focused all rounded ICT professional with broad-based expertise in Public Health, Health Information Systems, ICT- Business alignment, project oversight, systems implementation, process improvements, and integrating cutting-edge/latest technology trends that exceeds expectations. He always brings ambition, innovation and determination to every role. More so, he has proven ability to quickly analyze key business drivers and work directly with internal/external staff, diverse teams, leveraging a team-centered effort that increases profitability.
