Africa’s ministers of health, parliamentarians, partners and communities gathered in Arushafrom 9 to 11 September 2026 under the theme “Towards Universal Health Coverage: Strengthening Sustainable Health Financing, Efficiency and Quality Improvement within Primary Health Care”, under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and African Union Champion for Maternal and Child Health.
From Alma-Ata in 1978 to Astana in 2018, Primary Health Care has been affirmed as the route to health for all. Arusha carries that lineage forward into an African era of health security and sovereignty. The Call for Action is published here as adopted, word for word.
