Job purpose:
Under the supervision of the Head of Division, Disease Control and Prevention, the Technical Officer – Maternal and Reproductive Health will provide technical guidance to support conceptualization and implementation of holistic programming and advocacy to improve maternal and reproductive health outcomes within AU Member States.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Officer will be responsible for the following:
- Support the implementation of Africa CDC Reproductive health strategic priorities to strengthen health systems and systems for optimal maternal and Reproductive Health consistent with evidence-based science, effective policy, and data-driven interventions and programs;
- Support member states to organize and participate in regular knowledge management and learning
events to promote, national/cross continental learning and scale up of evidence-based interventions
linked to RH priority areas; - Support the implementation of inter-country collaboration on maternal and reproductive health surveillance monitoring and reporting, including data sharing and use and promote engagement of
countries regional and inter-regional prevention and control activities and programs; - Support member states to develop and implement a sustainable Community Health Worker work
force, and expand community Health Worker capacity to support scale up of interventions in
maternal and RH priority areas - Manage the daily activities of the Reproductive Health program Unit and work closely with other
units at the division of Disease Control and Prevention to identify and build cross-sectoral programming; - Develop, review, and disseminate guidelines, standards of practice, protocols and other tools to improve quality delivery in Member States;
- Provide logistic and technical support for information sharing and training activities using regional
meetings, and other onsite trainings and workshops; - Performs any other relevant functions as assigned by the Supervisor.
