Background
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), a specialized public health institution of the African Union (AU), invites eligible African Health Products Manufacturers established and operating in African Union Member States to apply for prequalification under the African Pooled Procurement Mechanism (APPM).
This initiative supports:
- the Africa Health Security and Sovereignty (AHSS) Agenda;
- strengthening African pharmaceutical manufacturing;
- improving access to quality assured health products;
- and enhancing continental health security and emergency preparedness.
The prequalification process aims to establish a roster of qualified African manufacturers that may participate in future:
- pooled procurement opportunities;
- framework agreements;
- emergency procurement;
- strategic sourcing initiatives;
- and Member State direct orders under APPM arrangements.
