Mastercard Foundation and Africa CDC launched the Saving Lives and Livelihoods initiative in June 2021. This historic $1.5 billion collaboration has supported the COVID-19 vaccination of more than half of the target population, trained, equipped, and deployed 40,000 healthcare workers, created 25,000 additional jobs in the health sector, and expanded Africa’s genomic testing laboratories from two to 40.
