Biography

Dr. Tiruneh Baye, MD, MPH, is a seasoned medical doctor and public health professional, He graduated from St. Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College with a Doctor of Medicine and attained a master’s in public health from the Addis Continental Institute of Public Health. With two years of clinical practice, he developed a deep understanding of patient care and healthcare complexities, fuelling his transition from individual care to systemic enhancement.

Tiruneh’s commitment extends to community-focused public health, having served as a Program Director for a National Non-Governmental Organization, emphasizing community-based approaches. In his role as a Technical Advisor for Workforce Development at the UK Health Security Agency, working with Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and Africa CDC, he significantly bolstered healthcare systems and workforce capacity during public health crises. Currently, as a Technical Officer for Public Health Workforce Development at the Africa CDC, Tiruneh oversees diverse programs in the Division of Public Health Institutes and Research. His duties involve strengthening the skills and capacity of public health professionals across Africa, playing a pivotal role in building resilient healthcare systems, and ensuring equitable access to services.
