The Saving Lives and Livelihoods initiative was launched in Tanzania in October 2022, and as of March 2023, the initiative had already surpassed its target by 144%, with over 5 million COVID-19 doses administered. Additionally, more than 104% of the target population aged 18 and above have been vaccinated, with the Africa CDC Saving Lives and Livelihoods initiative contributing 15% to this achievement. The initiative is implemented in 10 regions of Tanzania. With the target surpassed, the government, through the Ministry of Health, is working to integrate all COVID-19 programs with routine immunization and primary healthcare services.
