Spotlight: Africa CDC Announces New Regional Leadership for Northern Africa and Key Appointments to its Governing Board
Africa CDC has announced a new chapter in regional public health leadership for Northern Africa, following the successful conclusion of the inaugural Northern Africa Regional Steering Committee (ReSCO) meeting held on 23 June 2025 in Cairo, Egypt.
By consensus, Member States appointed the Republic of Tunisia as Chair of the Northern Africa ReSCO and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria as Vice Chair. In the same meeting, the Kingdom of Morocco and the State of Libya were nominated to represent the region on the Africa CDC Governing Board, while the Arab Republic of Egypt was confirmed as the host of the Northern Africa Regional Coordination Centre (RCC).
The high-level meeting brought together Ministers of Health and heads of delegation from across Northern Africa, reaffirming a collective commitment to strengthen regional collaboration, formalize governance structures, and advance coordinated health security efforts.
