Outbreak Brief 104: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic

Outbreak Update: As of 10 January 2022, a global total of 305,875,288 COVID-19 cases and 5,486,183 related deaths (case fatality ratio (CFR): 1.8%) have been reported by 226 countries and territories to the World Health Organization (WHO). The distribution of cumulative cases (proportion of global cases) from the WHO reporting regions (excluding Africa) are as follows: Eastern Mediterranean Region 14,822,788 (5%), European Region 111,336,901 (36%), Region of the Americas 111,307,306 (36%), South-East Asia Region 45,926,170 (15%) and Western Pacific Region 12,265,873 (4%). In the last seven days, the five countries reporting the highest number of new cases globally are the United States (4,351,309), France (1,833,701), the United Kingdom (1,209,694), Italy (1,108,863) and India (784,845).
