Dr. Ngashi Ngongo

Principal advisor to the DG and the Continental Incident Manager for Mpox

Biography

Prof. Ngashi (MD, MPH, PhD) is also Professor of Epidemiology in University of Lubumbashi (DRC). He played a catalytic role in the development and implementation of the new vision of Africa CDC by helping to break the silo approach and bringing teams together.

Mpox is a major public health issue in Africa and will last for at least 1 year to stop this outbreak, therefore we need a seasoned public health leader to bring Africa CDC colleagues and all partners (in total 24 organizations) to become members of the ONE continental coordination mechanism. He led the development of the Mpox continental preparedness and response plan and is leading a multidisciplinary team of seasoned experts coming from various partners.
